United voices for a connected Eveleigh

The Eveleigh Bridge Alliance brings together the Alexandria Residents Action Group, Friends of Erskineville, REDWatch, local businesses, and individuals — all committed to meaningful action.

Our vision is to create a vital pedestrian and cycling bridge across the railway corridor, transforming the suburb into a unified, accessible, and thriving neighbourhood.

The railway corridor has physically divided North and South Eveleigh for generations — limiting connection, commerce, and community for tens of thousands of people.

The Physical Barrier

Over 1.2km of active rail infrastructure cuts through the heart of Eveleigh, forcing lengthy detours and limiting access to schools, parks, and services.

Who is funding the bridge?: We are currently lobbying both state and local governments for a joint funding commitment.
When will construction start?: Once funding is secured and detailed planning is complete, we anticipate a 2-year construction timeline.
Will it be accessible for wheelchairs?: Yes, 100%. Universal access is a non-negotiable cornerstone of the design.
