The Physical Barrier
Over 1.2km of active rail infrastructure cuts through the heart of Eveleigh, forcing lengthy detours and limiting access to schools, parks, and services.
Championing community connection
For over a century, the railway corridor has served as Sydney’s industrial heart. Today, it remains a physical barrier. We are working to deliver a bridge that reunites communities across Eveleigh.
About the Alliance
The Eveleigh Bridge Alliance brings together the Alexandria Residents Action Group, Friends of Erskineville, REDWatch, local businesses, and individuals — all committed to meaningful action.
Our vision is to create a vital pedestrian and cycling bridge across the railway corridor, transforming the suburb into a unified, accessible, and thriving neighbourhood.
The Great Divide
The railway corridor has physically divided North and South Eveleigh for generations — limiting connection, commerce, and community for tens of thousands of people.
Over 1.2km of active rail infrastructure cuts through the heart of Eveleigh, forcing lengthy detours and limiting access to schools, parks, and services.
Residents, workers, students and visitors face daily inconvenience. Local businesses on both sides suffer from reduced foot traffic and economic isolation.
Home to 2,590 residents, 650 businesses, and 3.3 million visitors annually — Eveleigh is a thriving hub that deserves to be united.
Our Mission
Once complete, the bridge will not only reunite the suburb and its surrounding neighbours, it will foster activity and unlock economic opportunity that will benefit generations to come.
We are working alongside government, local organisations, and the community to make this a reality.
We are progressing through a structured campaign to secure government commitment and deliver this vital piece of infrastructure.
Surveying residents, workers and businesses to build an evidence base for the bridge.
Uniting community groups, businesses and individuals behind a single, powerful voice.
Presenting the masterplan to local, state and federal representatives for funding commitment.
Appointing a design team, working through planning approval, and delivering the bridge.
Have a question about the bridge project? We’ll be adding answers here as the campaign develops. In the meantime, get in touch.
